Started as a branch for a 5 curve idea from last years bow trade and somehow turned into a conglomeration of fun.
Osage with sinew and Northern pike skins that I dipped in left over tie die liquid while makin shirts with the kids. Saw siyahs in the Y of a couple of ERC branches. Bone chips under goat hide on front of siyahs for string nocks and bison horn underlays.
Thought I'd try making horn cams for the string to rest on and hoped they would hold together and give a little extra snap (which I think they do). Sinew and inner HHB bark wraps. (Had to 4 piece the pike skins and they still have most of the scales on)
46" straight between tips with 3.5" reflex. Art sinew string. Leather thong handle with jute and rawhide end wraps.
55# @ 22"
Just wish I would have used a little better stick to start with.

Pretty cool Marco pretty cool!!
-
I guess sticking with the plan isn't always the best course of action. Turned out pretty sweet though. You'd never know that's not what you had in mind when you started out.
-
My goodness. The combined effort in skills it took to make that piece of art takes a while to catch up on.Very nice detailed work. How does it shoot?
-
That's rather unconventional (what I like), and pretty amazing too!!
-
Wow. Reminds me of this - http://www.hornbow.com/mokgoong.html

Cool looking little bow. Looks like it would be fun to shoot!
-
I like it DuBois, kinda fun getting carried away sometimes.

Man thats one awesome bow buddy, great work
-
That's a busy one, nice job on the string alignment.
-
Thanks folks, It's been quite a process and I think it is getting me more ready for a horn bow soon.
Bead-It shoots hard and slams em home. Had that moment when you just look at it after shooting a few and say "Oh Yeah!" Kinda kicked my butt though-haven't been shooting much with winter and stuff. Tired arm and soft fingers. I need some better matched arrows for it too.
PD, that's one thing about the stick I used. I need to put up a front profile pic to show the character in the lower limb and the lower siyah that is not in perfect alignment and bends sideways just enough to be a concern in the long long run but no problems yet.
I did hear popping on the first few full draws and it turned out to be pike scales popping up. Couldn't get em off without tearing the skins so left em on. (won't do it again) Not sure what to do with that now?.
That's why no BOM entry.

Jeez, Marco....looks like too much is just about right!

Maybe I will yell FOUR!!! next time I shoot it ;D
Thanks again you guys, Glad you like it. I think I'll spray a little shellac into the scales when it is braced. finish is several coats tru oil.
Here's the front and back to see the side to side.
-
It was already too late to yell for these poor critters >:D
-
That's one awesome smorgusborg of materials, creativity and skills. Sweet man!
-
Too cool! Looks like that was a blast to make. Great job.
-
Wow! That is awesome doobs! That's quite the snake in that lower limb. Cheers- Brendan
-
Way cool! The only problem I see is if you take it to a range or a meetup you'll never get to shoot, you'll be too busy talking about it with everyone coming up and ogling it, lol.
-
very nice,, just touch up the skin,,with paint,, and it will go bow of the month, :OK
-
Brad, thanks man.
I always feel like I should have several hundred arrows shot before even thinking about BOM entry. Haven't gotten that many yet.
-
Nice bow! I like what you got going on there. Great job!
-
I know what you mean DuBois about entering the BOM contest but this one deserves a shot. Go out and shoot it a bunch then submit that badboy! Besides, you're probably not allowed back in your shop yet right? lol
-
Thanks Marlin and Brendan and all that commented.
Yep, I guess you got a point. I better get up and shoot that rascal so it is ready for entry for BOM. What the heck.

Now that's the spirit! :BB
