hi! - this is another bow i made from a blank my buddy chris didn't like! i had the blank sitting around for a year or so and it was the last bow i finished in 2007.
it's the same limb cross section as chris' BOM/BOY winning bow, except this here has 2 stripes of black walnut, 4 vertical stripes of bamboo and one stripe of purple heart as a core laminate. madake-bamboo on both back and belly.
the bow is 70" ntn and could easily be pulled to 31" or more. i pull the bow to 29" and i have not noticed any loss of reflex from the beginning.
the bow pulls 58#@29" and shoots a 540gr arrow at 191fps.
i shoot the bow with a fastflight string.
the bow has no noticeable handshock.
thanks for looking,
frank

Wow Frank, I love it ;D The pin nocks, the profile, the wraps all tie together nicely. looks like you might have another winner there. Sweet bow, congratualtions,,,Keenan
-
Sharp bow frank, very nicely done.
-
I love the shape. Is there a bow of a particular culture its patterned after. Reminds me of north asian styles.

thanks for the comments!
@dave: this is a hybrid between a japanese yumi (following some design criteria concerning gross section, position of the nodes of the bamboo, also the bamboo used is japanese) and the south-indian double-curve (originally a hornbow). chris and i learned to make these from jaap koppedrayer!

I love everything about that bow, the curves, tips and the handle work.
-
thanks gordon! - this bow has the smoothest draw and is a sweet shooter; really spits out arrows with authority!

Frank,
I was wondering if you have any photos or drawings of how you laid out that bow? I am planning to make a bow as a birthday present for a friend of mine and that design would be just right. I'm sure some of the other guys here would also like to see how this one goes together. Many thanks.

So..... are we going to get a How to or a Build-along?
poke, poke..... poke, poke

actually, i started a tutorial (rather then a build-along) together with chris who won BOY with such a bow, but that will need time to accomplish.
