Title: Big Boy survived the rifles
Post by: Zuma on December 07, 2016, 01:34:00 am
I rarely see a deer after rifle season.
Maybe a doe or two on a snowy day.
But never a buck with a rack. :o
Also it looks like his partner is still willing
but Big Boy is played out. Odd on all accounts ???
I can't make out more than six points. Any ideas?

This could be a clue as to why Big Boy is shy. :)

That is always a good thing when they make it through , they have about another month here before they will be safe. ;) Usually a few more big boys fall around Christmas when the 2nd. rut kicks in here. :)

Glad to see big boy made it Zuma. My guess would be he wants to grow a even bigger rack and give you a better shot that you won't have to drag so far next year.lol. Looks like he's been a busy boy glad you can still watch him

That sure is a pretty site!
I have a big eleven point Ive been looking for all season. Hadn't seen him in a while and figured he was gone.  But last Sunday night I got news that my dad seen him by my stand.  The good thing is that it was doe season so all dad could do was watch him! Hopefully he comes around in a couple of weeks when our alternative methods season opens. Because ill be setting there with my smoke pole!
Good luck, and safe hunting!

For a deer hunter that's a pleasing and satisfying site. The smart ones seem to find a way to live through it all.In Iowa we still have 1 more shotgun and 1 muzzleloader season to go yet.
Last year around january sometime I saw a monster with a dozen does not too far from my place.Nice to see.

I agree Pappy. Second rut? Live and learn.
I could pursue BB with bang stick or bow late season
but I have the freeze stocked.

Yeah BJ his antlers wouldn't have helped the little elephant either.

Patrick I can see him now, lumbering your way crunching a leaf or two.
His breath showing in the crisp air as he tries to sniff you out.
Your mind racing and your body tense------- Good luck

Ed I am tickled I have been able to capture these images. They are
some of the best stills I have taken. I have most of my awesome stuff
on 8 mm video tape LOL

Thanks Zuma,  thats encourgeing! I would like to say I could hunt him with a self bow but bow hunting just ain't in my cards this year.  So hopefully the ole patch and ball finds him sneaking up on a cold winter day.
