Title: Dbow from a hickory board, or wider limbsdesign?
Post by: StickMark on November 20, 2016, 10:11:28 pm
Utilizing a hickory stash from a thick board.  Already have a good rigid handle bow from the board: 55" ttt, 47-48 punds at 22 inch draw, 1.5 " set.  Have two more "stave" ready to go.

Question is this.  Regarding boards, is the maximum of 1.5 inches still too narrow for a hickory bow?  I hunt Arizona, and need to really utilize shrubs, small bushes, etc... to close the deal.  Therefore, I am considering going shorter, with a bend in the handle design.  My shorter draw and a 1.5" wide handle would require some draw weight to make all the arrow dynamics work.
(And I have had luck with the rigid handle, wider limbs design, both with staves and now this board bow)

Thoughts?

I don't tgink it is that short, just keep it that wide to 2/3rd the length of the limbs
