This has to be one of the trickiest bows I've ever built. Between failing with multiple attempts at gluing on spoonbill skins, a violation in the back that led to being rawhide backed, etc.
The tiller was also quite challenging, with the undulations in the upper limbs and how the handle area dipped, leaving a reflex in the top limb and deflex off the bottom. I'm beyond tickled with the results though. Hope everyone enjoys. :)

Great looking bow. Your styling is very much like Ryan Gill's.

X2. Real nice. What is up with that back quiver? Extra strap like a back pack? Is there a belt too? How does is work - does it stay put?
Russ
-
RBLusthaus - Yes, it has a belt and two straps. Both connect to the belt in front via a metal ring. Stay's put very well, even has a little strap and button to hook around your pants belt if need be. :)

Nicely done. I've always wanted to use some snake skins, but they're just too darn expensive. I've looked on 3 Rivers and ebay. Anyway, that's one beautiful bow. Congratulations!
-
Very nice looking bow. What kind of finish did you put on it?
-
Nice looking bow! Great finish and detail work

I really dig the snakiness of the bow, my favorite shape for a character bows! Doing hazel one like that currently.
-
Cool bow cloudfeather, I like how you outlined the skins with black.
-
Very nice, every bit of your detailed work looks perfect on that bow.
-
Wow, she's a beauty! I'm going to try that type of inlay for the strike plate on my next one. Love everything about your bow.
-
That's a very nice looking bow. I like how it turned out.

Sweeet!!! Cloudfeather.I like it.Every bit of it.Congratulations on it.A real beauty!!!!!Did I mention I liked it.....lol.

Very nice looking bow. What kind of finish did you put on it?
I do 10 coats of tru oil on the back 7 on the belly. 0000 steel wool every third coat to knock it down and even it. Then, the last coat I do a kind of french polish with a tiny bit of oil on a micro fiber towel. Gives it a nice luster without being overly shiny. :)
And thank you to everyone for all the kind words. Very grateful.
-
Very nice. Congrats!

My only issue is that I don't know how the finish will hold up with this type of arrow strike plate. I'll keep you posted on how it works out for me. :)

Wow...excellent!

Great work as always Cloudfeather! I really like those ebony tips, Ryan Gill does something similar. Nice job blending those skins in around them. I'm putting that style Brazillian kingwood on my current Bodark selfbow.
-
Thanks, Bob. Someone else mentioned a similarity with this bow and some of his. It's funny, I'm friends with him on FB and, when he complimented my work, I outright admitted that I probably stole an idea or two from him. That goes for a lot of other guys on this site as well. :P
-
I admire your work Cloudfeather. Awesome bow!
-
Nicely done. Your finishing work is top notch.
-
That's a very nice looking bow. You should be tickled ;D. Did you stain the rawhide black?
-
... missed this one.
Super nice work all arpund. I like the black lining at the skins and the corresponding to the black horn plate.
-
Thanks Make-n-break, Simson, H Rhodes, Mullet.
Mullet, I stained the rawhide with some mahogany leather stain. I've done this once before and I don't know if I'll do it again. It always seems to leave a little bit of a red edge between the skins and the wood. Maybe it's just inexperience? Anyway, that's the reason for the black lines. In retrospect, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
