Well I am not to sure about the wood but the huge nodules of opal I have been
working with, give me a ratio of about one point per pound of material. About
five percent.
Some times it makes me ill to smash up any more. :'(
But then after a while I do it again. ???

Thanks for taking my mind off you know what. I had to get some sleep need to be at the field by 5:00am no matter the outcome. Plus 1 what Orrum said. Zuma you are an inspiration to myself and I'm sure many more on this site. Thanks for sharing great work as always

They would make some pretty and exotic bling! Nice.

Petrified opalized wood is a great knapping material with the advantage that spalls or flakes can be used by myself to make cabochon for jewelry. I saw it into slabs and try to knapp that for rare material but I stink at knapping compared to you Zuma so waiting is best b4 I try my small supply.
