Did I mess this elder stave up? Is the white stuff sapwood and should've stayed on? :-[

If you preview your post and can't see pics, we can't either. ;)

I'm on iPhone so I uploadet a link for the picture. I read in a post on this side that it's not allowed to type in direct links so I seperated the HTTPS part. I might have misunderstood something? :)

No white stuff is cambium, you didn't mess anything. Btw, I work with stave same dimensions as yours, see here: http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,58581.0.html
Also, you can put pictures with postimage, they are not advertising.

Thank god :) straight elderberry is a rare find, where I live.
Just saw your post and noticed the humus on your bow. My stave's got The Humus aswell. Did you learn what it was?
Where are you from Stalker? Noticed you know alot about woods we have here in scandinavia.
-
Croatia. So you have humus also in pith canal?
-
Yeah close to the root.
-
That is same case in my bow. When I cut it near the root, I saw black canal of the pith near root. Upper parts of canal are completely fine and that black canal is about 25 cm long. What I am worried is if that means wood is rotten around that area.
