Very nice!
how is working with eucalyptus?
does it it grow in hawaii?
-
Nice ;D
-
That's exceptionally nice Mr.Manny :). Cool finish on the back - always sunny and green in Hawaii.
-
Very cool...and interesting pattern on the silk. Is it painted?
-
sweet looking bow has a real nice look to it- Ryan
-
Lovely bow, does it shoot well?
Osage overlays... isn't the purpose to use something tough to protect the wood underneath? But I've seen people put overlays on top of osage bows so now I'm confused. Is there any reason you can't just leave an extra growthring or two on the main stave at the tips?
-
Nice one Manny!, Do you know which eucalyptus it is?
Rich
-
Beautiful bow Manny. Did you need to heat treat the belly?
-
good to see (one of) you(r bows) again!
really nice! - did you glue a pattern onto your silkbacking and than dye over it??

Looks like a beauty Manny, been awhile since ya posted a bow here. Hows the hunting been?
Simon most people put tip overlays on to pretty the bow up or to add strength to a very narrow tip.
-
Nice work thgere "howlie !" :D....bob
-
Lookin good Manny!!
-
Nice looking bow Manny. Justin
-

The pattern was on the silk.
Gordon I tryed reflexing this bow twice wile belly tempering and straiten it, but it just whent back to the original shape
-
Man, that's too bad that it chrysaled and collapsed on ya - tiller still looks "not too bad" ;D. The grain of that wood looks cool (in the close up) :).
-
Really a good looking bow, sorry it took a turn for the worst.
-
I hate when that happens :(, but if you build enough bows, it's going to.
-
That's a great looking bow Manny, sorry it gave you trouble like that.
Alan
-
Beautiful bow Manny, sorry for the problem. But as we all know it happens. :( The silk
looked great and the grip was exceptional. :)
Pappy
-
Eucalyptus has always been good fire wood and the leaves are good for keeping the fleas away and maybe some rustic furniture, sorry you had to go though all that work. :)
-
oh man, that's really too bad
-
The joy of bowmaking :D :D...next ;D
-
Beautiful work as usual Manny. Looks like you are refining your handle work, leather arrow pass. Very nice. Too bad it fret, but it still looked real good on the tree.
-
Thats a bummer Manny, That was a real nice looking bow and a real treat to see some more of your work. Thanks for trying the new wood, that is how we learn. Keenan
-
The joy of bowmaking :D :D...next ;D
glad you see it that way!!!
-
Yeah David, I'm learning, I'm learning, I look at all the great bows that get posted, than i look at mines, and think "you better do better than that !" :D
..so I'm trying to get better in the refining stages, I'm spraying urathane on a Guava ELB, should be ready soon :)
-
Yours look mighty good to me.Can't wait to see the next one. :)
Pappy
-
That is a bummer Manny. >:( Still is a fantastic looking bow. Are you going to put it on the tiller tree of death? Come on lets see what happens when you pull that thing to 35". >:D Sorry I am just remembering the thread when you put some of your Guava bows to the test. Are you going to try Eucalyptus again?
-
yeah Jbell, I have a split from the same tree, I'll try something different ???
Pappy ,I'm spraying a finish on a nice Guava ELB, not much time to work on it because I'm buisy moving (again ::)) ::)
but I should post it soon
-
Manny, Can you post a picture of what the leaves look like? I've been looking at Eucalyptus for awhile but I thought what we have here is too light in density.
-
Eddie, this particular one I got because wile on a KOA mission I ran into this groove of trees I never saw before, I didn't even knew it was Eucalyptus at first, I cut it down because it was a farely strait tree ;D, never ran into this species since.
-
Manny, What we have around here is telephone pole straight. It has long, 6" narrow leaves and a shiney inner bark with a thin peeling outer bark. does this sound the same?
-
that sounds like the blue gum eucalyptus, or Lemon eucalyptus, or Mandhalay gum Eucalyptus, all of them quite superior to this one in my experiance as tree trimmer, and I made a bamboo backed lemon once that was quite good
-
Manny, that tiller looked really good. Too bad that it chrysalled on you. Jawge
