This takes an amazing amount of pressure for very little gain. Only pressure flaking. Maybe percussion would be better?

Heat it. It's salvageable ;)

That's Brazilian Agate. I've thrown some in the kiln at 450 all night and it did little good. So I'm just guessing somewhere in the 600-800 range.
