There has been a bit of talk about steamers. I thought we could post pictures of what we use so people would know what to look for. Mine is a Conair Garment Steamer. They must not be much of a garment steamer because I got two of them at thrift stores. $5 for one and $7 for the other. never know when you'll need a spare ;). It will steam for an hour and a bit if you fill it past the "Max" point. It's all I need and more. No trouble maintaining 210 degrees. I live at 30 feet above sea level. If you spot one of these, grab it.

Same, just pot full of water and alu foil

Here's my steamer set-up for staves. Sometimes I use a pot on the stove like Clint for steaming a small area.

Mine looks like Drewster's, but with a camp coffee pot on an electric hotplate.

Drewster, have you ever stuck a thermometer out at the end of one of the tubes? I'm pretty sure that steam holds it's temperature well but I've always been curious about making something like that.

No I haven't but it would be interesting to do that and see what the temperature difference is from the center out toward the ends. I haven't noticed any issues when steaming a whole stave. I usually do it when the stave is about 18-22% MC. I bet the temp would vary more on a windy day.
