I had one goal this summer: building a new garage with enough space in the back for a workshop--so I can get the sawdust and the mess out of the basement. Of course it took the whole summer just to get permits, financing, and bids completed. We broke ground 2 weeks ago. Been looking forward to this for 10 years. Wish I could afford it. . .

That's great. You will enjoy having a dedicated space. What are the dimensions going to be?

That's great Jeff, it's so nice to have a dry well light comfortable place to work on and store your stuff. Are you going to insulate some day? When I built my garage I wanted to insulate but didn't have the $$. I had to put in a ceiling for fire code and one wall was insulated because it was house wall. I decided to install insulated door was a little more $$ but not to bad at the time. A few years later I blew cellulose in ceiling and foam on walls. I was glad I had the insulated door.

It will be 33' by 21'. It will extend 6' off the back of the house, which should give me some good space to work in.

Way to go Jeff. I've also been working on my garage. Got the concrete poured this past week. It's been a 6 year project. Wife is getting a little agrivated but been lucky enough to pay for it with cash so far. Thinking about taking a small loan to finish it before winter.
