Title: honoring the fallen
Post by: Josh B on August 30, 2016, 10:23:16 am
I recently visited an old Marine buddy of mine and went on a little road trip with him.  We went up to Omaha and delivered a flag he made out of salvaged barn wood to a funeral home in honor of an airforce staff sergeant that passed before his time.  As it turns out, since he retired from active duty my Marine buddy has been making these flags and anonymously donating them to the families of the fallen in his area.  This includes not only military but law enforcement, firefighters and EMT's.
I met this man in the early 90's.  He was the hardest platoon sergeant I ever had and the best friend I'll ever know.  When things got tough, he made you tougher.  He served 6 yrs in the Corps and 20 in the Army with more deployments to the Persian gulf and the 'stans than any 3 men should of been asked to do.  He served with honor and distinction each and every time.  It is and has always been my honor to call this man my friend.  I won't mention his name as he does not seek credit for his efforts, but I would like to share just a few pieces of his work that he has donated to families in the last few years.  Josh

That's fantastic work, but an even better story.  What a great way to honor our true heroes.

This country needs more of that, and less politics.

Sometimes, you read something that just makes your day.  This did mine.  Thanks Josh, and a special thanks to your marine buddy!

Good friend in deed. That's real neat it's good to see proof of men with true honor. In the age we live in to often we are shown the rough with media and all and fail to see the diamonds. thanks as well for sharing.

The world would be a better place if we had more folks like this man. Considerate, caring, and humble are traits of a real man.
