Hey everybody!!
This was my first time working with Dacite! And I've really loved it so far, this was just a small flake that broke off a bigger rock so I decided to see what I could come up with.. And this came out!

Nothing compared to the beauties I see around here , but I'm trying, and the more I practice.. The better I'll eventually get.
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
And thanks to Eddie (mullet) for gifting me rocks to work on 😊

That is some pretty rock and you shaped it well. Having an eye for symmetrical balance in a point is important and you did well. Get those flakes to run a little longer and you are there. Nice work!

Nice looking Dacite point, and you are well on your way. Bob

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, critique is always appreciated, be it good or bad, totally makes me learn more.
I agree, I gotta get the flakes running longer, seems easier on glass than the actual rock.
Haven't tried Obsidian yet but apparently everyone keeps saying it's very similar to glass ,
I'm still afraid to work on that great rock , but we'll see!
Thanks again y'all!

That looks good and it's Dacite, by the way. ;)

yep. keep at it.
don't get in too much of a hurry and be sure that you are abrading before flake removal.

Oh my bad, Dacite.. 😂
I pm'ed you asking what type of rocks they were Eddie, I thought only Flint and Obsidian lol.

I didn't remember what I threw in the box. :)

Very good. Keep those first time points for future reference.

I second all the above, especially about keeping that point and quite a few of your early points so you can look at them later and see the progress. Sign and date them. New knappers are tempted to give away all their early work, but you need to resist that urge. In just a month or two, you will see a LOT of improvement, but that one would put the buffalo on the table.

I'm keeping all the points I make ! 👍
