Title: Yew Static Recurve 55#@28" (Trade Bow)
Post by: Weylin on July 07, 2016, 01:03:31 am: Finally have my trade bow done! It's Pacific yew backed with deer rawhide with some sturgeon skin accents. It pulls 55#@28" and is 64" nock to nock. I bent in some fairly big hooks, this is definitely my most extreme recurve to date. They sure are a lot more work and fuss than a longbow but the end result is rewarding. I have a lot of hours with the heat gun into this bow. I played around with some pin nocks and horn overlays on this bow and I like how they turned out. I kept the limbs nice and wide to handle the added stress from the recurves and it seems to have held a good profile. I was originally going to decorated the wide canvas of the rawhide but after I added the sturgeon skins I was enchanted by the relative simplicity of the two contrasting colors and decided to leave it white. Sometimes simple is better. Looking forward to giving it to my recipient. I hope he likes it.
