Hi Guy's,
Here is one of two bows I am working on at the moment. Carson sent this yew heartwood down to me a few months back.......
Bamboo backed Yew heartwood with a spotted gum core. 45@28, 75" NtN. Sambar deer String nocks.

Very nice work Mick! I bet you can find the center of a target quite easily with that bow.
-
Great looking bow, you did an outstanding job holding the profile. It should be a great shooter.

Gorgeous wood !
Looks like it pulls more than 45#. I'm impressed by the workmanship 👍

Thanks for the comments guys.....
Hi Carson, thanks again for the yew , she is a little ripper to shoot mate and it is easy to hit the middle as you say....will be in contact with you soon, as I want some more heartwood billets like these.
This is a REALLY good combination guys, I have used hickory as a core with the same results, spotty gum is just really easy to get here and hickory is not. Makes for very quick bows that are quiet and very forgiving.............and they look nice! ;)
Thanks again.

Thanks for showing this bow "mikaluger". Looks nice, by the way.
This helped me also. I´ve got a couple of yew staves, grown here in Finland, but they are not so good quality to make selfbows. I´ve removed the bark and the staves are now drying up to next winter at least. I´ve been wondering whether to use hickory or bamboo to back them. Looks like I´m now going towards bamboo after seeing you bow. Most likely less set and faster than with hickory. More to come in their own chain on these pages when the staves are dry enough.
