I wish I could say this was an adult bow, but indeed it is a kid's bow. A friend of mine has a young'un stoked about archery, and, in order to hopefully steer the boy away from training wheels, I jumped on the chance to make him a bow. This started out as an adult bow, but sat in the corner for so long I decided to put it to use. I've been wanting to do a bow with a hole in it, but haven't had a stave with the right character. I was quite pleased when, while reducing to "kid" thickness, that knot popped out ;D . Also, they wanted an arrow shelf for him (I've been doing mostly "off the knuckle designs lately), so I fashioned a cut-off from one of my 100+ yr old fenceposts into the shelf. This'll definitely garner attention when they head to the range!
Nuff, said, here's the pics:

-
Very nice character on that bow!
What's the draw weight on that thing?
-
Thanks for the kind compliments guys. It aint much on draw weight Knotty, 17# @ 22" is ths max. It turned out to be just right for him!
I struggle with really "feeling like a bowyer" a lot, but this one made me feel like I can call myself one. The past few bows have fought me so much I wondered if i should just give it up! With this one, I just went mostly with feel and look, very little measuring and a lot of intuition, and it all just kind of fell in place. I kept telling my wife "somethin's bout to go wrong, this one's too easy," but nothin ever did ;D

The weight itself can be anything. It's matching it to the recipient that matters :D :D

Great bend, great bow
-
That is a sweet bow. Beautiful tiller!

Don't worry I kept thinking the same , and the worst error I ever did was , thinking it would break when strung up or when shooting (sometimes if you don't believe in Your craftsmanship , it does tend to reflect on the final result)
Remember it's a kid's bow, never be ashamed of Your work.
If it is capable of shooting an arrow, it's a bow!
Well done, and keep it up, I'd really love to see more!
