Does string wax have to be bee's wax? Just cleaning up the kids old crayons and I have a ton of broken ones. Could i mix them with pitch?
-
I think in a pinch they would work. I'd stick with bees wax though.
-
Maybe I'll just melt them down and put them aside for later. Gotta be good for something. If I throw them out I'll need them next week ;D ;D
-
Haha I hear you there! I'm the same way. Always need it when it's gone!

@DC ,
Here's a paragraph from Wikipedia's Crayon Page:
"Such crayons are usually approximately 3.5 inches (89 mm) in length and made mostly of petroleum (paraffin wax). Paraffin wax is heated and cooled to achieve the correct temperature in which a usable wax substance can be dyed and then manufactured and shipped for use around the world. Paraffin waxes are used for cosmetics, candles, for the preparation of printing ink, fruit preserving, in the pharmaceutical industry, for lubricating purposes, and crayons."
If its used for Candles I don't think it works for Bow Strings.. But I guess you could always try.
Good luck!

melt and drizzle over some of your bow shavings (or dryer lint, or both) for some nifty fire starters. stuff the shavings level in the paper egg cartons holes before pouring the wax. once dried you just cut them out and store in a ziplock.
they work well, even in damp situations.

A very good string wax is a wax toilet seal ring. Probably best to buy a new one though. ;D

How come? On the inside part gets shitty, and its plastic!

If you mix it with a bit of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) it will soften the wax and maybe make it usable for string

Good 'un!
Beeswax + toilet seal wax makes good bow wax. 2/3 beeswax, 1/3 toilet wax.
