Title: War clubs
Post by: JoJoDapyro on May 21, 2016, 11:43:30 pm
I am thinking of making a decorative war club.  What types of Wat clubs did the tribes in the Michigan area make.  What materials did they use?  Thanks for the help.

Many are ball clubs, using the root at the base of a large hardwood sapling works great also. I have one that has a baseball size end and a face carved in it.

Was bone ever used for a head?

On a war club I'd assume any material that could hurt someone was used. Bone should work fine.

Funny this post came up. Been checking the Ball Clubs out in the Crazy Crow catalog - thinking, Hey I could make one of those. Cut a big Maple branch that's been obstructing My view in My Yard, and while lopping it up for the fire pit, I spied a spot where two branches joined and when dry should make a REAL cool Ball Club. Been trying to find some pics of Great Lakes area clubs to copy, with no luck so far. Bob
