I'm trying to finish up a red mulberry bow for the classic. Too late into the build I remembered that the guy getting this bow likes arrow shelves. So I had to build one up. The question I have is does this shelf look crappy as is or should I wrap it with a handle wrap? The original plan was to not wrap the handle. Oh and if your someone that despises arrow shelves, your input probably won't be helpful in this poll. Thanks! Josh

Looks fine to me.

I'd cut down the simi recurve handle at the palm buldge.
I'd cut the shelf to center shot. And you have more than enough wood left to open up your risers sight window. Look at a bow catalog look at their handle's risers.
You can build your wood bows to have handles and risers. That Look just the same. I've been building my bows to have the handles, risers, sight window. for more years than I can remember.
Man but those copperheads look good don't they. My favorte skinns by far.

I'd take it

I like it the way it is but you might consider crooketarrows suggestions as he has a lot more experience and probably better taste than I do. ;D ;D

Josh, I think it looks fine as is.

Thank you kindly for your input! I'll keep on keepin on with it then. Bubby, I wouldn't wrap that riser you have going either. That's purty! Josh

That one looks good to me Josh! I don't think it needs a wrap. But I've been known to wrap most of my bows. I done my first bare handle with a glue on build up shelf a while back.

I'd have to disagree with your sentiments about cutting to center. I build glass bows too and trust me they are just 'cut to center' you pretty much have to use an I-beam of something bombproof like grp etc or accept that the riser has to be plenty thick at the cut in shelf. You have to design a bow to have a centercut riser from the start and make the riser strong enough. Just cutting to center without any reinforcement is a bad idea.

I like it too. I like naked handle too I put some scrape fur on my shelf to make it quite.

I like it as is, Josh.

Josh, I hate to be the contrary voice ;), ...but I'd wrap it. I just like the feel better and it looks more 'finished' to me. The other guys are right that it looks plenty fine enough as it is. Nobody is going to call it ugly or pitch it into the fire because of your built-up shelf. If they do, let me know where and I'll reach into the flames and snatch it out!

I think it will look great once you get the finish on it.

I like it bare, but it would look great with a wrap at well. Sorry Josh, no help from this guy. :D

Looks fine. I like the feel of a wrap better than the feel of a bare handle, but thats just me.
