Title: Crackin the stone a lil
Post by: Tower on March 27, 2016, 09:43:58 pm
thought I'd spend a lil time to post a few things I've made. There hasn't been enough time in the day to break stone like I used to.  Here are a few of my latest.   I have a couple more I'll post later
Special thanks to Iowabow  for cooking my novaculite spall. It knapped like candy. I hope y'all enjoy

That is some of the nicest work I've seen.  That corner tang is legendary, epic effort.
As always thank you for posting.

Crap, every time I see your work, I just want to take all my stone, and tools, and toss them in the garbage!
Those are just absolutely beautiful!  You and the others on here that do work like that, drive me nuts.  I still can't seem to get the hang of it!  I can make functional, but not pretty.  Those are really great!

Some killer work. That corner tang is nuts. Love when you can clearly see where they came from on the parent rock.

So did he cook that black rock?! It looks great. And if he did and it works that much better, why do I  hear people say " you cant cook black rock"? I have some black novaculite just sitting around, would love to know the recipe.

Thank y'all for the compliments Gents.
Knapper,  John  only heated the spall. The stone itself is still untreated.   I know John used a kiln to heat it, my roaster only gets up to 500*.
Black or not, it took heat well.

Tower I am soooooooo happy to see that you produced a point from that stone and to top it off an amazingly beautiful one to boot. You are an amazing talent!!!
