Title: Tree ID.
Post by: TimothyR on March 26, 2016, 05:56:06 pm
Anyone have a clue as to what this tree is. My friend cut it down in his yard and thought I might be able to use it. It was dead standing so I'm not sure of the stability of it. Has thin sapwood and bug damage in the sapwood.  If I can't use it for billets it would make some nice project wood. Just would like to know what it is. My buddy didn't know , he said it looked like mesquite to him and it does resemble it.  Thanks for any help on this topic. Tim.

Thanks. Upon closer inspection it looks like it has been burned. It's very dry so not going to be using it as bow wood. But I should be able to use it for other things. And I'm pretty sure it's mesquite. It will make some nice overlay wood and knife scales. Thanks everyone. Tim.
