Title: Ash for my freind
Post by: rps3 on March 20, 2016, 08:07:31 pm
Cut this tree off my buddies property when he needed wood to make wedding center pieces for his daughter, so I got what was left over to make a few bows.  I give him at least 2 bows a year and he hunts them well. I figured may as well make one from the ash we cut.  68",  low 50's at 29" draw.

Excellent bend and a sharp looking bow too. I can see you toasted the belly, how did you get the grain highlights to pop so nicely on the back?

Thanks guys. Badly Bent, nothing intentional, I think I just left hints of the cambium on and it took the stain like that.

Like everyone else, really admire this one. Straightforward, pretty curve, nice specs. Everything to like about it.

That is a great looking bow.
How far into the final tillering did you go before the heat treating of the belly?

Thanks for all the great comments. PaulN / KS, I have been finding the longer I wait to toast the better, so at normal brace or maybe even a few inches of draw.

Looks great. He is one lucky guy to get two of your bows a year. I have one from you and it is among one of my best shooters.

Thanks Bob, I was wondering if it was still shooting. Reminds me that I should drop the maker of the bow I recieved a note and let him know I am still enjoying shooting the one he sent me.
