Title: Bamboo crack

Is this crack anything to be concerned about? I'm using it for backing. On any other wood I wouldn't think twice about it but I'm new to boo ;) I've flooded it with CA. The top 1/4" will be removed.

You can't flatten the back of bamboo and feel secure about it. Is there any way you can put that spot in either the handle or out of a hard working section?
 

    edit: You probably meant the top edge.

 Did that occur during shipping? I'd opt for a replacement if so .

At the moment it doesn't go all the way through. I'm making an  R/D boo backed yew and this would be 12-14" in from the tip, a fairly bendy spot. If I trim everything from the top edge I may be able to fit it on and lose the crack, I'll see. I've got more. I bought a bamboo log from a garden center and this is a piece of it. I don't think a garden center is going to refund for a crack. What is it about bamboo that makes this a problem?

If you are talking about that little lengthwise crack in the middle, spit on it and call it good. That aint gonna bother you or that bow none in the least.

longitudinal cracks in the bamboo, like the one the arrows point to will not affect the bamboo backing...however if you remove 1/4" of the back this will ruin the backing, as will any damage that breaks the longitudinal fibres of the back...I wouldnt remove the rind or touch the nodes, unless you want to sacrifice safety for looks...

OK, I guess I didn't explain myself well enough. Forget everything I said so far. I plan on using the boo between the black lines. Is the little crack between the red marks a problem? I think Sleek is following me. The 1/4" seems to be throwing people off. Forget I said that.

That crack shouldn't be a problem.

I can see small chips along the edge of that node. Make sure those chips aren't any worse than what's pictured, because they could quickly create a spot for a splinter to lift.
