I think it is Eucalyptus. When I cut it down I thought it was lemon guava. But it is far too light compared to my strawberry guava.
Anyway: The bow is 62 in nock to nock  it draws 52 lbs. at 28in. the handle is wrapped in hemp and the rest is a couple layers of 10 oz leather superglued together.
The tiller has been adjusted on the lower limb since these pics were taken. I am getting more bend out of the outer 1/3 of the limbs but the last 5 inches or so of the tips are still stiff. ( I also skinnied up the tips a bit) Sorry no new pics of it.

Forgive my form on the last pic too. Holding the bow strait up and down has me all goofed up.
I wanna thank Manny for the helpful tips both in person and on this site!

				Looking good.
You might want to find out which Eucalyptus species it is? There's more than 700 species growing in Australia alone  :o

Thanks guys I appreciate all the comments and compliments! JoachimM, I don't really even know if it is Eucalyptus. That is just a guess. I was told to practice on it and get familiar with my tools prior to getting into a nice guava stave I have roughed out. I was told, "don't get too attached it might blow up in your hand.." I guess that is the gamble with mystery wood.   Del, your looking at the wrong curves buddy. lol ;D

Whatever the wood is and regardless our venerable elders think of your appearance- thatis a wicked looking bow!  :)

I like the way that turned out, no matter what wood it is you made a awesome looking bow out of it. Have fun with the guava next. I got one of Manny's bows and it's still one of my favorites. You got a good teacher there, but the student has paying serious attention. Again great work.

62" and 52@28 with that unstrung profile would make me forget Guava and figure out where that stave came from...I would hound every stump in the county...Nice

Simson, I am in Hawaii. The Island of Oahu. Donald, Thanks buddy. It has been getting plenty of action recently!! once I can get some arrows properly spined (im pretty close I think) I will see if I cant knock down a goat or a pig with it this season.
Thanks for taking a look!
