I haven't posted a bow here in quite a while, so here is my latest. I've been bitten by the replicating bug in the past few weeks/months, and I've planned out and made a few, so here is one.
It's Osage, 48"ntn, 46lb@24", and a little over an inch wide most of it's length, tapering to nocks just under 1/2". It shoots pretty well, and will probably be my all purpose bow. The fur is Fox tail fur, I didn't have any horse hair available. I think the Comanches would forgive me. :) I painted the belly a little bit, sort of in the way that a Comanche or Kiowa bowyer would have.
I didn't want to reflex the handle or deflex the tips because it had a bit of propeller twist in it, a slight sideways bend, and the knots. I will probably be making another one, and i will do the set back handle and stuff, paint it a bit more elaborately, and make it a little heavier.

Very nice bow, lots of character. Love the pin nocks. Question, did they use pin nocks or side nocks? Where did you see the design? I don't have the Encyclopedias, might have to ask for them for my BDay.

It looks good Sean. If you use the fourth link provided on the photobucket it will show the pictures on this page. It is the one that starts with [IMG] Justin

A cool bow. Makes me look forlornly over at the shards of my recently broken 53" osage
-
Hi,
Nice looking bow! Is it backed? Do you have a full draw pic?
-
Thanks everyone, It's a nice bow. It'll be my shooter...until my next one. ;)
The tiller of the bow is left a little bit stiff in the outer limbs to keep the string angle low. This makes for a pretty smooth draw. It's taken about an inch of set after shooting for a couple of days, so I'm happy.
Lennie, the nocks they used most of the time were sort of half nocks, at least on the upper limb. They used one slot on the upper limb, and two on the lower. It's not an exact replica, but I figure it gets the point across, and it was good practice for a closer replica.

Well done. That's a fine looking bow

Nice bow Sean, great job tillering. Your taking that baby back to its full potential, looks like the string is past 90 degrees at full draw,
be careful you don't pull the string off it.....lol. ;D
-
That is really a sweet bending piece of wood, I would call it an awsome replica. Thanks for sharing. Kenneth

Wow - that is nice! No wonder the Comanches gave the intruders in the wagons such a tough time! Nice full draw shots! Got you bookmarked, too, for Feb Self BOM

Wow, thank you, everyone, for the compliments, it's great to have such wonderful support.
Kenneth, I'm sorry I didn't let you know until now, I got the feathers about a week ago and I've fletched a couple of arrows with them. Thanks a lot.
