Hi everyone, havent been as active building bows for the last while. Been busy having a pretty dismal deer season. Just got this one finished up. 64" ntn, 58#@26. A set of nice elm billets from PatM. I was originally shooting it at 63# and after it broke a bunch of my arrows since I didn't have anything with a stiff enough spine, I realized I didn't want a bow that heavy. Haha. Hoping it settles around 55#. Both the billets started out with some reflex, the bottom one more so. Also heat treated the limbs.

Nice!!!!
-
Like everything about it, great work😄
-
That's a keeper, bubbes. 8)

Nice stick and finish to boot...a deer slayer for sure!
-
Man I dig that! Super job.
-
I really like that! Perfect weight too.
Great job.
-
Beautiful bow!
-
How wide are the limbs and what inside diameter is the handle tube?
Really nice bow.

I like it.
-
Looks really nice.
-
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Asharrow, the limbs are around 2" wide, maybe creeping up on 2.25 around the fades. Not sure what the inside diameter of the tube is, but it's the smaller diameter takedown tube from 3 rivers. Its around 1.25" wide on the outside.

A 2 piece with character, looks cool. :)
-
Beautiful job on that one, looks like a serious shooter.
-
Beautiful! I really like that unstrung profile
-
I think some of the character you're seeing may be the fact that the bottom, more reflexed limb took very little set when combined with the heat treatment, where the less reflexed top limb took some set despite the heat treatment.
-
Nice work bubbles!
-
Awesomee
-
Real nice looking bow and your tiller looks right on.
-
I like it.
-
It looks like a comfortable shooter with the string angle at full draw. The bow itself looks like a deer slayer to me. Great work on that elm wood.
-
Nice job!!! :)
-
beautiful bow!
any chance of a close up of how you make the limbs fit together.?
-
Thanks guys!
Dragon man, I just used those metal takedown tubes you can get at 3 rivers, then just did a leather wrap to cover the metal.
-
Very nicely done man! 8)!on a side note did you pick your username from the TPB's?
-
Haha bushboy, I didn't, for some reason this has been my username I've been using since the I've started signing up for Internet chatrooms/forums, which was many years before TPB.
-
Been waiting for this one. Nicely done.
-
Very nice bow man. I like the front profile and you finish work.
May I suggest to use the t/d sleeves in the opposite way you do: Long sleeve on the lower and short sleeve on the upper limb.
But really cool bow buddy!
-
Great bow, very clean and tidy....
I gotta make a takedown that doesn't explode 6 months later >:(

Very nice stick, well done. :)

Interesting point Simon. I actually recycled these takedown sleeves from a hickory backed cherry I was unhappy with. But I oriented the sleeves as you suggested on that one. I noticed that the sleeves would work themselves apart slowly. Not sure if it was from hanging the bow up or from shooting the bow. I havnt noticed that yet with the sleeves set this way.

That bow is sick man, sorry about the season's frustrations, makes next year's success that much sweeter, but I think I'd trade a successful season to be able to make bows like that!
