Title: Coyote Patch Knife
Post by: Peatreg on December 21, 2015, 11:29:59 pm
Aged coyote jawbone handle with decorative sinew wraps. 3 7/8" forged blade. 3 1/2" cutting edge, 8" overall length. Finally got a sheath done for it. Dyed brain tanned neck sheath with rawhide liner. Beaded edge with hand rolled cones and dyed deer hair. Quill wrapped neck strap.

Now that is cool. Is the tang inside of the jaw?

Yes Mullet the tang goes close to 3/4" through the length of the handle. The curve of the tang matched perfectly with the curve of the handle. I had to use a small flat hobby file to get the opening wide enough to accept it. If you look close you can see the tang, that's how thin the handle is at the top

Thanks! I was trying to figure out how you did it. I saw the sinew spaced down the jaw, I was wondering if it was on the inside.

Thanks for the compliments! I screwed up that sheath at least once and had to start over. New liner, getting it wet formed to the knife, etc.
