My son cooks a noodle dish on Wednesdays...
I'd popped home for a bite of lunch at midday...
Mrs Cat was on the phone when she waved her hand violently pointing outside...
I looked out and there was a dead pigeon on the patio! She said she'd seen it fall stone dead!
Now was it a Sparrowhawk, a kid with an air rifle or had it flown into a window? I had a look and couldn't find any sign of shot, and it's neck was rather floppy...well they are rather floppy at the best of times .
My son said let's have the breast meat off it to go with the prawns and noodles :)
So we went out and took off the breast meat on the patio table. Nice little meaty bonus... I expect a fox will tidy up behind us overnight.
I tried to show the carcass to Sophie the cat but she was just nonplussed... stupid cat! ::) Our previous cat would have got her jaws round it quick as a flash.
I got back to work, and when I said what I'd been doing on my lunch break was met with incredulity... one of the girls thought it was a wind up!
I said, I don't wind people up and I always tell the truth ::) O:) She didn't even know you could eat pigeon.... I said they even have 'em in Sainsbury's at this time of the year!
I can't hunt over here, but I sure as heck won't pass on free meat!

Prawns and squab over noodles. Sounds like a winner 8)

I've seen to many viral outbreak movies to trust random birds dropping dead from no apparent cause, lol, just sayin'....

I have quail that try to fly through my house from time to time. No casualties as of yet, but I do keep my eyes open.

For a second there I wasn't sure if Sophie was an actual cat or your daughter :D

Pigeons are VERY tasty !
-
Yeah it was V good.
Loads of stirfry veg, carrot, onion, peppers, mushrooms, waterchestnuts.
The prawns were marinated in ginger garlic and soy sauce. The pigeon was cut into thin strips marinated in olive oil garlic and a splash of soy then just flash fried for a few seconds to brown/seal it all round and the set aside to lob back into the mix at the last minute.
A bit of gravy from a stock cube to slosh over the noodles.
All with a glass of beer... result

Now that's an innovated and tasty sounding recipe, for sure. I may see if dove season is open and give it a try. We can take all the pigeons we want but they do not come to the dove field often.

Sounds like a feast fit for a Cat!
