Title: Bow racks
Post by: BowEd on December 15, 2015, 09:22:04 am
Got sick of bows sticking out on top of counters here the other day....lol.Made another bow rack.Just for a few.Put more time into it then I thought I should but anyway it's done. Those statics are nice but they take up more room on a rack.
I'm sure there is some more elaborate efficient type racks around here.Wonder what they look like.

I say well done.
I sure would like to see some sticks on the pins.
I think that would make my point.
Two things,-- you may have capitalized by using
some wood ends. But what I like the most is what you
display, should totally stand out with the right angle lines.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks fellas but to tell the truth I started out with just a square frame 1/2" thick.Lap jointed.Hoping that would be good enough. It did'nt lay flat like I feared so I put tongue and groove on the back to flatten it along with 3/4" wide oak edge trim I had over edges of tongue and groove.Had to make the dowels a good 4" apart to accomodate the bent sticks. It helped like this....Top down-Black cherry,Black locust, and Yew.I've got a stigma about storing my bows horizontally.Humidity reasons.I'm sure there are different opinions on that but that's just me.

Mine's just an old 2x4 with a few pieces of a broken arrow to hang the bows from. This picture doesn't really focus on it, but gives you the idea.

Cool...I always like a conservative fella using broken arrows for bow pegs.Makes sense.Weathered wood goes for big bucks in the cities nowadays.I had to burn mine with a torch to give it a stressed look. There are old barns and buildings here and there that with permission can be capitalized on.

This is my bow rack, as you can see I probably need another one soon.
Its made from a gnarly piece of yew and antler tines I got in some trades.
The 2 tines on the right are my wives bows :).  cheers

Here are my bow racks. The first is the one where most of my bows are stored. It's in our utility room...

...these are 3 bows that Rich(Half Eye) sent me a few years ago. They get their own place of honor...

...and these are my everyday shooters. These bows change from time to time...

Isn't Loefflerchuck from Utah too?  don't leave him out.  --course one wife will do it for me, too.  The one I have (today is our 23rd anniversary) is all I have ever wanted.

Cool bow racks, I made a new one a few months back so I could find what I had, ??? just a simple board and some broken arrows cut for pegs. :) And a few hanging around the cabin I had made from deer legs years ago.

Here's my rack. It's not really big enough to show all my bows well but it's a big improvement to where I had them before.
