I took a picture of this thing behind my workshop, it's about 2' in diameter

It looks like what I call ice spews. If the soil is a mix of clay and sand, when it freezes, the water spews up in icicle form if the ground is saturated with water.

I thought it was a Blooming Onion from Outback Restaurant. ;D

You are good WA. That's exactly what it is but it's not soil. That one is actually a mound of water soaked saw dust from my shop vac. There was the exact same thing in the front of my shop where I had shoveled soil just before the cold spell that created this one

Brrrr I am chilly just lookin at it.
Hit it with a flame thrower quick. >:D
Thanks for posting it though Marc.

I hunted in Georgia one cold morning after a big rainstorm the night before. That is what the entire area looked like. You talk about a noisey walk to the stand.

I was going to say it's some kind of fungus mushroom....lol.

It happens here around creeks and ditches or anywhere bare ground is damp. We'll have a hard freeze tonight and have had 2 1/2" of rain over the last two days so the pump is primed.

The thing from the pit its the star of a old B movie! :)

Never seen that before.
