Title: Dimensions for mesquite bow?
Post by: TimothyR on November 28, 2015, 02:09:39 pm
Could anyone tell me dimensions to start with for mesquite bows. I have several stave ranging from 50"-72". I've read that mesquite needs to be sinew backed. And also what's the best way to straighten them? Steam or dry heat.  Thanks in advance Tim

Mesquite chrysals very easily. Most people I know who have worked with it never fool with it anymore. I have seen a couple of decent bows from it. I would not add any reflex and maybe go about 1 3/4 wide and 66" long if you have enough wood.
