Great fall day in the valley.
-
I love fall. Cool, windy and beautiful.
-
Our leaves are almost at max color. Oaks seem a bit slow this year. Poplars and some maples are already bare. My favorite time of year is almost here, after leaf fall and before leaf out. 8)

I have a bunch of old Maples in My yard - been mowing/mulching leaves for days. With Bean Fields been picked, starting to see Turkeys again. Corn Fields are on the agenda now - Deer are loosing their cover fast. Bob

Yup nice time of year. Lookin' good in the UK too... not so many big birds tho'.
But I did see a tiny little Goldcrest hopin' about in my Yew tree :).

I sure would like to see some photos of

and the rest of the world too. :)

Here are a few pics I took from the front porch. You can see some of the trees in our valley have lost most of if not al their leaves. In other areas the leaves are still holding on...

...sourwoods are mighty pretty this time of year...

I never heard of sourwood before Pat. They sure are pretty :)
Are they good for projects?

Nice pictures. Not many leaves left on trees up here. Poplar and Red Oak are some of the last trees to hold onto their leaves
-
Sourwood makes great shoot arrows, my favorite. Also, the bees like to make sourwood honey so much they keep it separate from other honey.

Beautiful pictures , love this time of year thanks for sharing. Pappy

Live and learn. 8) Thanks Pat, glad I asked. I'll have to see if we have
some around my area.

Though the skies were gray, the light coming through this young maple grove on what was once a cleared field on the mountain was amazing:

The Green Mountains, Zuma, though not a good name this time of year! I'm sure you can guess the state..... :)
(hint: means "green mountain" in French)

Those fantastic fall colors are part of what I miss about being in south Texas. Places north of I 20 usually get some nice color, but not this far south. My favorite place to live was north of Atlanta, GA. We used to take the kids to the mountains at least once per fall and spend a whole day driving, looking and taking pictures. Those were stunning views and good memories.

Thanks Pat I was thinking maybe New Hampshire, but that's the
White Mts
I was hesitant to say New Hampshire because shire is English
Southern Pennsylvania and parts east are known for the best colors.
They contain the most southern, northern varieties and the most northern,
southern varieties of tree species in one zone.
Chip are you talking around Tallulah Falls?
