Title: difference between parallel and tapered laminations

Im having a hard time differentiang between the two. are tapered laminations refering to the lam running from handle to tip as if you were looking at the bow on its side or is it if you are looking at your bow belly. In other words if I put my bow down on a table with the back side against the table which one refers to looking from above and which one refers to looking at the side?

Parallel tapered lams are the same thickness from one end to the other. Tapered lams are thicker at one end than the other with a smooth taper. Those tapered lams can be laid either with the thick ends butted together at the handle or the thinner end butted at the handle, depending on the engineering of the limb and where and how much the limbs will bend. I have a Mike Treadway FG longbow with reverse tapered lams in the limbs.
