Saturday night this guy came out and gave me a 20yd shot. The shot was not exactly the prettiest, but it did the job! He had me busted, as I drew back slowly, but made the mistake of letting me get to full draw! He jumped the string a little as he turned and ran about 50 yards before expiring. The bow I used was 'Twisted Sister' made by my buddy Pearl Drum.

Good deer, and that is a very cool bow by the looks of it!

Great Job!

Congrats!! Am sure full grin will spread across Chris' face when he sees your post.

Despite the handicap of having to shoot of Pearl Gums bows, a done right good! >:D

Congrats guys!

Congrats, nothing like the first with a self bow. :)

I loved getting that text buddy! I had no idea you where going to get serious with that bow after you sent me that practice grouping. But I guess I was wrong! You got serious all right :)
Congrats my friend

Congats, well done. Getting that first one with a primitive bow is the best. I've been out twice over the weekend carrying my Pearly Made osage bow chasing deer. Chris makes killer bows and I fully expect to zip an arrow right thru a deer if I get my shot.

Great shot neighbor! Looks like you are seeing more than I am. Good job on filling the freezer.

Thanks everybody for your kind words.
It's a lot different from shooting my wheelie bow. No fancy gear or high tech gadgets to help you, or better yet, get in the way. I'll never forget the image of this deer as I was as full draw, looking down my arrow!
Chris and his bows are top notch! I consider myself very lucky, not because I have 2 of them, but because he is my friend. Thanks again buddy!

Great job!

Awesome story! Awesome deer! I've yet to take a deer with a self bow but I hope this year I at least get a chance! I'm sure Chris is proud too! I killed my first bow deer with a recurve when I was 15. I still remember it like it was yesterday!

Deadly serious, apparently!

Each wheel, each sight pin, rest, release, gadget, gimmick, and gimcrack is another layer separating you and the animal you hunt. The organic wood bow and arrow draws a connection between you. Some never get that, but you feel it now. Doncha?

I sure do :) You described it perfectly.
