My niece got married yesterday. Instead of buying them a gift I wanted to make them something. I decided on a his and hers knife set out of a large file. She deer hunts some so I made her a small skinner. He doesn't hunt yet so I made him more of a utility style knife. I used walnut for the scales and beaver tail for the sheaths. They haven't seen them yet. They are opening gifts Monday evening.

Great knives, I. Sure they'll love them :)
-
Nice work, Clint. How do you cut out the blanks. Looks like you annealed the file.
-
Those finished out great Clint I'm sure they will like'em
-
Thanks guys.
Pat, I anneal the files and then cut the blanks out on a metal band saw at work
-
They look nice Clint.
-
He doesn't hunt yet
Ha ha! His time is coming. I love it! That is really nice work and I'm sure they'll enjoy them.
-
I can see it,,,, you'll turn into a knife maker instead of a Bow maker. Looking good, Clint. They ought to love them.
-
Thanks guys.
Mullet, I'm planning on making both ;)
-
Real nice Clint! Watch out it can become a addictive hobby. Only reason I got out of it I do enough metal work at work. Once you learn how to start manipulating metal it's pretty fascinating what you can do to it
-
One thing I always liked about metal was when you cut it to short you could weld a piece back on. Can't do that with wood. Well, Del thinks you can >:D
You know remove wood until it bends too much and then back up a step
-
Beautiful! Nice sheaths also!

That's a gift they will treasure forever. Good job Clint. Great looking knives.
-
Those are awesome, especially that they're taken out of the same chunk of metal.
-
Really nice looking knives ....Clint ....We might just have to talk about a blank or two.....I've got some old files and a couple of rasp for ya.
