The season starts on the 1st for me as well. I have been practicing shooting one arrow at a time every hour or so to simulate cold shooting as much as possible.

Opening day for us Michigan folk is Oct 1st. I use one of three bows, it just depends on which one I grab as I leave the cabin . Sharpened up my last stone pointed arrow last night.
Looks like it could be a good season based on what we saw during the youth hunt two weekends ago. Lots of deer and many bucks. On the last night with my grand daughter we saw 6 different bucks. We hunt in an antler point restricted area which means the first buck tag requires at least 3 points or more on one side and the second buck tag requires 4 points or more on one side ( a doe can be taken with a bow on these tags). They started this point restriction about 4 years ago and has really helped our deer herd.
