I have a bunch of bows I've made that are gathering dust and some people that are interested. All my bows have been drawn to 28". One guy wants a 40#@ 29". I have a few in the high 30's @ 28". Is there any prep to trying for that extra inch or do you just grit your teeth and pull. None of these bows have been "designed", I just made them.

You monitor the condition of the wood as you draw it further. If the bow hasn't shown signs of taking set it should be good to go for one more inch. If a bow is showing signs of taking set and you need one more inch you can sometimes look for a stiffer area that can handle just a little more bend. A very tiny amount of bend increase close to the fades will easily give an inch.
