Title: Getting tru oil down in there...
Post by: Cloudfeather on September 07, 2015, 11:14:30 am
I'm working on this bow that has a nice wind scar through the limb. I'm going to be finishing it soon and am curious how to best go about it. I generally use tru oil, sometimes with a base of shellac. I use my finger to put on multiple, thin coats and sand every 3 coats. The last couple coats, I use a towel and do sort of a french polish to get a nice luster without it being too shiny.

My question is: how should I go about getting the finish into the scar? I was thinking of using either a q-tip or a thin strip of rag and work it back and forth in the scar. Any thoughts?

Q-tip should work fine for that.

Yep, a Q-tip will do the job just fine.
