Title: Paraffin over linen or silk backing
Post by: RAU on August 29, 2015, 02:01:17 pm
Hi guys, I'm starting to tiller an osage bow that has a real slight violation at a pin that I scalped. I'd go down another ring if I could but don't have enough wood. Anyway I'm planning on putting a simple linen or silk backing on this with one of the tight bond glues. I've never backed a bow with anything other than sinew but it doesn't look too hard I think i can handle it.  I'm a big fan of paraffin finish on self bows do you guys think I can just go right over the linen or silk with the paraffin or am I gonna just make a big mess? Thanks in advance

It will go over the linen or silk but if you saturate the cloth with the glue it might peel off of that.
