Title: What kind of elm is this

Me and my friend cut two logs of this elm today and I would like to know what kind it is. I'm in Missouri. I'll get pics of the wood and bark tomorrow. It was very hard to split!!!

It looks like American to me, if you take a leaf that you think is either red (slippery) or American and put it in your hand and clap your hands together, the red will stick and have to be peeled off, the American will just fall away..

Thanks guys! It has barely any heartwood so is the sapwood ok to use.

I think its American Elm as well.

Good elm might just be a fuzz better than mulberry. Good find.
