I have an osage belly split -- 64 inches long but just 1.25" wide mid limb. It is also a bit narrower on the belly than the back, which means I may not have all that width. no knots. What do you think I can get out of it? What profile would you go for?

See what happens. I'd leave it full width until a little past mid limb narrowing to 3/8 inch nocks.
I made a bow from an osage sucker years ago and got 49# out of it. It had about 3 inches of reflex. It was 1 inch wide.
I made an osage bow for my daughter (2005) that was about 3/4" wide. I finished it at 25# at 22 inches. I reflexed the last 8 inches.
It doesn't take much wood to make an osage bow.

+1, narrow bodied reflex/deflex bows are fun :)

I mainly made stiff handle bow with the limbs (ELB)1 1/8" to 1 1/4" wide at the fades right off the handle. This will make bows fro 50 to 65 # bows.
But have made osage bows down to 3/4" good many around 1". Osage bows around a inch will come out good around 40 to 45 pounds.
Did just finish a Iroqous long bow 58" 50# @ 26. Did
nt take any picks sorry on it's way MD

Without seeing it, I's venture to say 50lbs should be possible ! Bob

I just built one at mojam with those dimensions, except mine is shorter. Its 53@26. Its deflex handle, mildly reflexed tips. Bow shoots amazing wih no measurable set.

Sometimes with wood bows you don't get to do a specific design. You just have to start reducing wood so you get both limbs bending evenly and together. Find the handle area get the limbs shaped as closely as possible and get the tiller right.

You can do most any "normal" design with that...depends on what you wanna make.....I'm finishing up a 64.5" ntn stiff handled osage just over 1 1/8" wide at the fades, and pulls 40@28" right now....I'm sure it could've taken more weight but the person requested 40@28".
