Title: Pecan worms

I have a ton of pecan bad thing is that most (three staves I debarked all have worm damage and worms ) I have tried to expose the next growth ring but can't tell which growth rings is which any advice or should i just throw it in the grill and cook some ribs

Pecan is a hickory. You don't have to necessarily chase a ring. How bad is the damage-small bug holes or wood borers? Some pictures would help.

Pictures would help.  Storing your wood and protecting them from insect damage is as important as proper seasoning. If you season your wood with the bark still on you should treat the bark with an insecticide. Many of the bugs and grubs that attack wood come from eggs laid in the bark.

Pecan is one of my favorite woods to cook with. It u can't use it for a bow make some awesome food >:D

scrape down until you are past the damage,, pecan makes a nice sinew bow as well,, :)

Great idea but  no sinew to August or September
