Hey PA
Looking to make contact with other Bowyers in upstate NY. I'm in Albany County.
Anyone else up in this area or anything reasonably close?
My regular travels take me as far west as Rome and as far south and east as the Island (north fork).
I would really like to try to get a group together for a meet-up/build day or a shoot or something like that.

I wanna say rblustous is from Albany, I'm in Ithaca. Neolithic man is also in ithaca

Does anyone have a shop that's suitable for something like this ... Few guys? My shop is a one car garage .... So that might not be the greatest ....
Could always meet somewhere outdoors, like state park or forestland or something ... Don't know if that'd be against the rules .... Doubt anyone would care. That obviously would limit the scale of the work to be done since there aren't gonna be vises for holding staves ...

Russ Lusthaus is in Somers & I'm in Patterson. Also got a place out in Otsego County near Westford.

I got a stave press and a vise mount for the back of my truck we can make something happen....state park sounds like a good idea. I only have a garage myself.

As John says, I'm in Somers, not near Albany, but it is not too far. There is also a guy named Erich, not sure of his handle, who lives somewhere near Albany as well. I keep being unable to meet up with him for a wood trade. Probably one of the others who replied to this thread, as far as I know.
We could also meet at a campsite for a nite? We will end up with plenty of kindling for fire.

I'm from Syracuse. I know of a guy that has a place in Pompey that he set up to be a bow makers workshop head quarters. My college did several workshops there for bow making through a group called primitive pursuits.

Tim is a cool dude. Primitive pursuits is a great program
