Title: finish over horn belly

I was wanting to know on your horn bows do you apply your finish over the horn or just leave it natural and buffed out

Mine has Truoil over it.

bub as you know Ive never built a horn bow, but I have used plenty of horn overlays. I have found If I don't seal it with shellac first the oil finishes will peel off in time. If I stick some shellac on first then tung or tru oil, it works great and looks great after lots of use.

Thanks Chris that is my deal too, lots of tip overlays i already have two coats of shellac on her, I'll do the writing and one more coat then tung oil
