i just purchased an unfinished rattan horsebow. i am looking to stain it,
what is the best option?

Any stain you chose will stain it just fine. The longer you leave the stain on before wiping git back off the more rich it will be. Keep it simple and use a rattle can of Helmsman to seal it. 2-3 coats is plenty. You don't have to sand between coats. Apply one every 2-3 hours.

What Pearlie said. Rattan is pretty porous so keep that in mind while you are staining it or it will come out real dark.

I've had better luck with dye instead of stain on bows.
