I have been experimenting with making arrowheads from clam shells. To be reasonably flat, my finished arrowheads are about the size of bird points. They are light, but sharp. I have not heard others making arrowheads from shells other than a rumor that Indians from the Pacific Northwest may have done so. Has anyone heard of arrowheads from shells?

My Tribe made them, Coos. I know other Tribes in the area did as well.

Shell arrowheads were made by Indians along the TX gulf coast. Not too common but they seem to be made from relatively large shells. The edges looked "nipped" rather than "knapped". I'll try to find pictures...
