Title: Is this a fossil?
Post by: Slackbunny on June 06, 2015, 04:07:59 pm: I found this in a riverbed while out fishing and hiking this morning. It caught my eye but I wasn't sure what to think of it.

What do you guys think? I've never found a fossil before and only ever seen them in museums and on TV. Do you think its a fossil or is it just some sort of interesting fracture or erosion pattern? I think it looks like a fern or a tree twig. I searched around for more, but didn't see anything else.

in your area and in what type material they they are found.
Any library or a google search should work.

Post by: sleek on June 06, 2015, 09:11:13 pm: Fossil hunting is a blast and quickly becoming a past time for my son and I. We mostly find coral polyp and shells. Still, its fun. River bottoms.are the best natural place to look, rock quarries are often the best otherwise. Considering where you fou d it id be inclined to say its a strong possibility of being a fossil.
