Thanks I like how it turned out

Hard to believe those were living inside a RR Spike. WOW!!!
-
Very nice

very nice.
like I said before your a natural.
if u don't mind me asking after forging what are your heat treat procedures ?
Kevin

Thanks guys.
I get the steel to critical temperature/non magnetic and then quench it. Then I clean it up and temper it to a dark blue
-
are you doing any grain reduction and normalization cycles?
I edge quench my spike knives and hawks in brine and then transfer to used motor oil to get that black finish and then temper to a dull straw (yellow)
again very nice work

Keep that crap up Jordo and you and I will have to do some horse swappin'.
-
Should I be normalizing before I heat treat?

Hmmmm, I'm listening

yes sir!
and thermal cycling to reduce grain size.
that make a much stronger and tighter grained blade.
-
How do you do that?

+1 for the KH school of metalurgy. I love these knives and hawks. I need to set up a little forge in my back yard. I'm sure if I don't set too much on fire the wife & neighbors won't mind.

Nice looking knives

Nice work Jordon.

This seams like a goo place to post this. My youngest son BRIER and I guess he got this from. He' keeps a project going all the time so do I.
He wants a forged tomhawk I've made knives for 20 plus years but from old saw mill blades. Most are 1095 steel which is a old time good edge steel still used a lot.
I've foprged when younger growing up just never tok to it alot.
SO IF AND ONE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DEAL I'LL GET THE METAL. It dos'nt even have to be finish(cleaned up) well let BRIER do the finle finsh.
