got this complete the other day, padauk and boo, real beautiful wood, anyway it's 66"ttt and 54#@28" and fling's an arrow with some authority, it has 2" of reflex starting about 18" from center and after a couple hundred arrows still has it all surprised the crap out of me :D, I put a coat of amer. walnut on the boo then rubbed some gunstock cherry on the nodes and faded it but it's a soft fade but I used the cherry to go with the color of the belly wood, longhorn tips and ff string thanks for looking(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/paddauk%20and%20boo/102_4584_zpsvl40mpyz.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/paddauk%20and%20boo/102_4584_zpsvl40mpyz.jpg.html)

I borrowed the laceing pattern from Simon's last bow
-
Sweet! Looks good Bubby! I've been meaning to make another padauk bow for a long time now, got a piece just waiting on me. Nice work.
Tattoo Dave
-
You put the steering wheel on the wrong side, but other than that she is a sweety! Good job on the reflex placement.
-
thanks Dave and pearl, but if you look Chris the steering wheel is on for a righty
-
Nice looking bow bubby. I have some boo slats and yew lumber sitting in my corner but I keep grabbing staves. Seeing boo backed bows like this makes me wanna pull those slats out. Thanks for posting
-
Sweet bow dude! Nice work! How do you like padauk?
-
Really nice looking bow. Thanks for sharing.
-
Nice like the way you did the boo Bubby.
-
here's a pic of the back(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/paddauk%20and%20boo/102_4572_zpsuddjrmra.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/paddauk%20and%20boo/102_4572_zpsuddjrmra.jpg.html)
thanks goat, arrowind, swampman, Robbie
I like the padauk it works easy enough and is so pretty in person
-
Nice bow bubby, but im getting a kick out of your fence. I see evidence of an archer living there with the arrow sized holes in it. :) privacy fences make terriable back stops. Perhaps a bit of ply would help?
-
Thanks sleek, and about the, huh, fence, the grandkids miss alot ::)
-
Great looking bow Bubby
-
Thanks Clint
-
Oh man, I bet that sucker shoots nice. Have you done boo backed bows before? Nice work buddy.
-
Thanks Greg this is my second boo backed bow but i have some more boo
-
Looks great bub ;)
-
Tiller looks spot on Bub - You nailed it ! bob
-
Love that profile, looks very sleek and that is some pretty wood. Nice!
-
Perfect design for the woods used....nice job Bub :) my two most favorite bows to shoot the last year are narrow 66"ntn bendys very similar to this(except narrower tips ;) ..) Smooth, stable, accurate,n packs a punch.
-
Nice job on that one, Bub!! :)
-
That paduak it's striking with the stained boo. The tiller is perfect, and I really like the color of the longhorn tips too. Well done all around.
-
Very nice bow there Bub. I love that design. Smooth and simple looking but far from simple. Great job
-
Thanks kenny, falcon, soy, chamookman, gb, matt, thanks Chris i tried finding the one you posted a while back before i started this but had no luck and the 3/8" tips will be thinner on the next, bub
-
That is a sharp looking bow bubby. Got to be a sweet shooter.
-
Great job Bubby. Like all the shapes on it and the finish looks sweet.
-
VERY nice. Paduak is one of the woods I wanted to make a bow from so badly, but gave up on after a couple attempts. I had a heck of a time with it cryshaling; it seemed to have good strength and stiffnesss, and little elasticity. It would actually fracture and crumble away. Same with purpleheart, and less so wenge.
I might have to give it another go. So pretty.
-
Thanks springbuck, like blackhawk said long and narrow works good for this wood combo
-
Nice one bubby, looks like a real smooth shooter.
-
Thanks man i appreciate it
-
real nice bub! I gotta ask though what's up with the right handed? Is this going to someone elses house?
-
Looks like a good 'un from here. Nice job with the stain as well on the boo.
I've had the same problems with it as Springbuck. I've also had it fail as core wood in a tri lam elb, it just started cracking all the way along it's length when I got to full draw with it :o
-
Thanks Paul, yeah i had to make one for my brother that he is giving to somebody plus if i make them all lefty it kinda limits who i can give them to and most guys want a rest
Mike this was some stuff my hardwoods supplier gave me and after due diligence searching it seened that most bows that failed with this wood were under 66", anyhow she's holding up well
-
Looks very good. Did you use the African Padauk ( Pterocarpus Soyauxii) or the real thing from Thailand/Burma which is 30-40 % stronger in all categories (Pterocarpus Macrocarpus)
Markus.
-
Top shelf work as usual! 8)nice finish!
-
That is beautiful bubby. 8)
-
Thanks bushboy
Thanks Joe
Markus i don't have a clue, it was off cuts that my hardwood guy thru in my truck gratis
-
Very elegant stick, bub.
Like that pure simplicity!
-
Thank you simon, sometimes simple is the best way to go
-
Nice choice of design for that wood. Tiller looks right on. Paduak is really fast wood.
-
Thanks badger
-
Great looking bow Bubby. Yeah blame it all on the grand kids ;D
-
Thanks okie
-
How is that wood to work? (never used it) great looking bow.....where's that yew? ;D
-
It's pretty easy to work brian, i have a maple walnut yew I've been working of and on and enogh for one more it will get done maybe later than sooner ::)
-
Got about ten bows in that stage, yep, I understand.
-
Hey Bub! What do you use to post pics? My antiquated phone won't let me look at your pics and I want to see if i can find some updates to fix that problem. As a matter of fact, I can't view about 75% of the pics posted lately. I can view photobucket but only if i click on the little blue ?. Its maddening to not get to look at my bow porn! Josh
-
Josh i use photobucket even have an app on my phone, might be time to get a new phone buddy ;)
-
Nice job. I've tried that a time or two and had crystallizing as well.
-
Yeah....I reckon it is past time for an upgrade. Thanks Bub! Josh
