Title: Straightening Feathers
Post by: DC on January 12, 2015, 02:43:27 pm
Do any of you straighten your feathers? Some of mine have enough bend in the quill so they don't sit straight in the clamp to grind them. I've steamed a few of them and straightened them. It works much better. Is it causing any harm do you think?

Just grind down your quill a bit and everything's fine ;)

Elwin, Just cut self nocks in the cane and add a sinew or thread wrap below it. That's how I make them and have for a long time.
DC, if the quill is thin enough the fletch should cooperate.
